This is a vintage Japanese woodcut. The original image was created on a scroll and it depicts a story in the “ Diary of Lady Muraski”. The diary was written in 1010 when Murasaki Shikibu Nikki was in service at the imperial court of Japan.
A copy of this woodcut is held at Fujita Art Museum and is designated as a national treasure.
Artwork 9” x 16”. Framed- 14.5” x 21”
Woodcut is in good vintage condition. Frame has a large nick on it as well as on the corner.
