This antique bronze Russian traveling icon features a triptych design with delicate enamel detailing. Perfect for those who appreciate Orthodox Christianity, this piece provides a beautiful visual for prayerful contemplation. It was made in the 1700s when Old Believers of the Orthodox Christian religion were being persecuted by the state. Being a traveling icon made it easy to transport and hide. The icon is traditional in that it depicts three persons - Christ Pantocrator carrying a book, the Virgin Mary on the left and St John the Baptist on the right. The front panel is a scene of Golgotha where Christ was crucified. Take a piece of Russian history with you wherever you go.
Open panel is 5.75” x 15.25” x .115” thick
Closed panel is 5.75” x 5.5” x .75”
This is in fair condition. Hinges are intact with no cracking or breaks in the bronze. Much of the enamel is missing and the bronze is tarnished
