This antique Czech prayer book is a one-of-a-kind piece with intricate bone, velvet, and celluloid decorative details. Bound in luxurious leather and adorned with gold gilt, it features a beautiful cross with a picture of Jesus on the cover and pictures of saints in the corners. A stunning addition to any collection.
The edges of the book are trimmed in brass which is beautifully finished with a brass clasp on the side. Each gilt edged page includes daily prayers all of which are written in the Czech language.
The book measures 4.75” x 3” and is 1” thick.
There is a list of hand written family names and dates at the beginning and end of the book. The binding is separated at the very beginning and end of the book but it is still intact and there are no loose or missing pages. Other then these separations the binding is tight. A few of the pages have some foxing.
The exterior has light age appropriate wear but overall is in great condition for its age. A few of the little celluloid images are muddled but still visible.
