Antique Japanese wood and Lacquer Kodansu Chest

This antique Japanese kodansu chest from the Meiji period features exquisite craftsmanship and intricate details. The black lacquer finish is accented with delicate brass trimming on corners, hinges, and handles. The front doors display a stunning gold painted bird motif using a traditional takamaki-e technique. Inside, each of the three drawers is adorned with a beautiful painted floral design and contains a tufted pillow for added protection. A unique and timeless piece for any collector or enthusiast.

Box is 7” x 3.5” x 7” tall

This is in fair condition.  The wood is split on the back panel and the joints are not tight at the top.  Some lacquer has worn off on several interior wood areas.  Brass is patinated.  The key is included with the chest.
