This vintage Mudhubani folk art painting features traditional art practiced by women in the Mathila region of Nepal. The primary colors and repeated patterns and lines capture the culture and aesthetic of the region. With a woman carrying two others in baskets from her shoulders, this painting showcases the strength and resilience of the women in this community.

This piece of artwork is from the collection of Anton “Tony” Rajer, an international art conservator, and Christine Style, a UWGB Emeritus professor in printmaking. It was acquired during one of their many trips to India.
