Antique Albert Coles Silver Calling Card Case

This antique sterling silver calling card case, circa 1870, is a timeless piece crafted by Albert Coles. Its elegant leaf pattern engraving adds a touch of sophistication, while the linked silver chain handle provides convenience. The perfect accessory for any collection.

The front of the case is engraved with the name C J Holmes. The top of the lid is engraved Catherine H Christian ‘05. I’m guessing maybe she married or this was passed to her daughter. 

The inside upper rim is stamped with the Albert Cole makers mark. I have tested the metal and it did test positive for silver. 

The box measures 2.5” x 3.75”. The chain is about 9” long. 

There are two small dents one on the lower left of the monogrammed side and one on the lower right on the back of the case. Neither of these is overly noticeable. There is also some very light tarnish. Overall though this case is in great condition for its age. The hinge works smoothly and the box closes snugly.
