The hardcover book is 1/2 leather bound including the spine and corners. The remainder is bound in maroon cloth. It measures 8" x 11.5" and is 2" thick.
There is a fair amount of wear to the exterior as shown. The first plate with the tissue overlay is missing the backing plate. 4 of the tissue overlays have tears in them and tend to be stuck to their backing plates. This was a common problem with this first edition book.
There is some tanning of the pages commensurate with age and a few small tears at the edges of the pages.
The binding is solid and other then the one missing plate there are no missing pages. The pages are clean. There is only one hand written remark at the beginning of the book offering a $5 reward for its return if lost.
